Sea lice in Cancun... is it safe?

I have just read a post that mentions sea lice in Mexico, I have never heard of these before & I am travelling here in October from the UK, I am worried now about it, does anyone have any advice? I have travelled to the Dominican Republic before & Jamaica but not heard of it :/
